2013 Birdies for Tampa Bay Charities Fundraiser

Athletic Boosters will be participating in the Birdies for Tampa Bay Charities again this year.  This is a fundraising golf tournament that is held in which pledges or donations are made and sent to the organization.  The pledges are based upon the number of birdies that are made during the tournament.  Basically what it comes down to is that the Athletic Boosters would get back the full 100% of the pledges and donations sent in and get back an additional 10% on top if we get monies in by March 15th (a cap is made at $75,000).  There is also an opportunity to win individual prizes by correctly guessing the number of birdies that are made during the tournament.  A full description of the program can be found in the attached file.  A pledge card can be downloaded.  Athletic Boosters will begin collecting these donations at the October meeting.  The last donation can be made after the tournament (no later than April 19th), but do not qualify us for the 10% bonus pool or guessing the number of birdies contest.  Please consider making your donations early to maximize this fundraising opportunity.

OFHS STUDENTS ENJOY RINGLING MUSEUM AND ASOLO THEATRE

OFHS students visited the John and Mabel Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota.  They also toured the art conservation lab and the Ringlings’ art library.  Students from Mr. Stewart’s Literature the Arts and AP Art History classes had studied the art in the museum and were docents for the other students on the trip.  In the evening the students saw Clybourne Park, a play based on Lorraine Hansberry’s classic A Raisin in the Sun, which many of the students had read.
