Florida Virtual School Deadline

Attention Seniors, All Florida Virtual School, Night School, or ELP coursework must be completed by May 28. Make sure that you are working at an adequate pace to meet this deadline. Failure to meet this deadline could jeopardize your graduation status.

Final End Of The Year Transcripts

Seniors you should now request that your FINAL END OF THE YEAR Transcripts to be sent to the University you will be attending.  Please see Ms. Valdes, our Data Management person located in Guidance to learn how to request them.  The fee is $2 per official transcript and the FINAL Transcripts will be mailed mid-June after all the final grades have posted.

Graduation Announcements

If you wish to order graduation announcements you should do so by Wednesday, March 18th to insure that you receive the official custom school announcement. Grad Bash Information

If you have signed the list for Grad Bash on Thursday or Friday, bring your money and signed permission slip to Mr. Kontrick’s room before school to claim your spot.  Students that signed up on Thursday have priority until the beginning of first lunch at which time it will be open to all students who have their money, their senior dues paid in full and are on the sign in list. 

FAFSA Nights

FAFSA Nights is an event aimed at helping you and your parents complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) quickly so you can qualify for the most financial aid possible. Attend FAFSA Nights at one of these locations for one-on-one help with your 2014-15 FAFSA.

FAFSA Nights Checklist

Financial Aid experts will be available at each location to help you and your parents file your FAFSA online. Those who participate can expect to get their FAFSA results in just one week. To ensure a successful online FAFSA submission, please bring the following:

  • Your Federal Student Aid PIN (to obtain your pin go to http://www.pin.ed.gov)
  • Student’s/Parent’s 2013 W-2 and Federal Income Tax Forms (1040, 1040A or 1040 EZ)
  • 2013 untaxed income (social security, disability, workman's comp, etc.)
  • Driver’s license or state ID
  • Social Security card
  • Spouse or parent’s Social Security numbers and dates of birth

Suncoast Credit Union Scholarship Application Period is Open

Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union is excited to announce that the application period for our 2014 Scholarships for high school seniors is now open.  The online application link is available on the homepage of our website under Special Offers at www.suncoastfcu.org.  We ask that you please make this information available to your students and post in any scholarship lists you have available.  We are especially interested in good candidates for the vocational/technical scholarship as our group of applicants last year was very limited.  Attached is a flyer that can be distributed to students. 

Application deadline is March 31, 2014.

Senior Slideshow Picture Submission

Senior slideshow picture submission site. ohsseniorpictures@gmail.com Please rename all pictures with the student’s name who is pictured.  We do not want numbers.  The deadline is about a month before the senior breakfast, but the closer your submission is to the deadline, the less likely it is to be on the slideshow. Only appropriate photos should be submitted.

Transcript Request

Seniors who would like to request a transcript may see Ms. Valdes in the front office to pick up their card. A parent/guardian must sign the card the first time a transcript is requested. Hard copies are $2, unofficial copies are $1, and electronic transfer is free. Please check ahead of time to make sure that the school accepts this method.

Mandatory Senior Seminars

Mandatory Senior Seminars will be held Wednesday, Oct 2 in the media center with the guidance department.  Students are to report directly to the media center during their assigned class period.  Locators will be in the hallways beginning Monday.  We will be going over graduation credit checks and post-secondary planning.  Make-up will be held on Thursday, Oct 3 for seniors who were absent.

Osceola's Programming Team at Florida High School Programming Series Final Competition

Osceola's programming team of Matt Cortez, Dominic Iovino, and Sam Rankin competed on Saturday in the Florida High School Programming Series final competition at Timber Creek High school.

 They placed seventh in a field of twenty teams. They competed against teams that have programming as part of their curriculum at school, and came one correct answer away from finishing in the top three.

 The team will compete again in May at the UCF programming competition.

Osceola's Wrestling Team Placed Second in the Anclote Challenge Dual Tournament

Our wrestling team went to the Anclote Challenge Dual Tournament this past Saturday and finished in 2nd place to Dixie Hollins.  It is the first team trophy that we have earned since a District runner-up in 2012.  Please give a congratulations to all of our wrestlers for a great day of wrestling.  Both Kevin Underwood and Zack Hehn went undefeated for the day, with Kevin beating a very highly ranked wrestler in the state of Florida.

Art Basel Miami Beach

Forty-eight  Osceola students from the Literature and the Arts, AP Art History classes, and other classes attended Art Basel Miami Beach, the premier contemporary art show in North America, on December 6.  The show featured thousands of works from over 4,000 of the most important and creative artists working today, exhibited by more than 200 galleries from countries in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia.
